BIO // Patrick Santoni

Patrick Santoni lives and works in Angers (France). An activist artist, his inspiration comes from what he perceives as the incoherence of the world in which he lives.

Trained at the Beaux-Arts d'Angers, architecture section, he began artistic work in the early 1980s. Influenced by the thematic and graphic freedom of Street Art, Free Figuration, Narrative Figuration, he nevertheless claims a technical approach classic in his work as a painter (glazing, sfumato, chiaroscuro). His paintings, after digital manipulation, then become other works, this time printed on fine art paper.

This figurative and technical handling aims to extract a disturbing strangeness from the turning point of reality and to provoke questioning on the part of the spectator.
