L'art est dans la rue
À travers un ensemble exceptionnel de près de 230 œuvres, « L’art est dans la rue » interroge l’essor spectaculaire de l’affiche illustrée à Paris, dans la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle. Co-organisée en partenariat avec la Bibliothèque nationale de France, l’exposition constitue une première à cette échelle. En effet, à Paris, aucune manifestation d’envergure n’a encore été consacrée à ce phénomène de société et réuni autant de réalisations marquantes des « Maîtres de l’affiche ». Bonnard, Chéret, Grasset, Mucha, Steinlen, Toulouse-Lautrec… Conçu comme une plongée saisissante dans l’univers visuel de la ville du XIXe siècle, le parcours retrace l’âge d’or de l’affiche artistique en analysant les mutations sociales et culturelles qui ont favorisé son développement, dialoguant avec un ensemble unique d’affiches, peintures, photographies, costumes, sculptures et objets d’art décoratif qui évoquent l’univers effervescent de la rue au tournant du siècle.

Willy Ronis. Le Tourbillon de la vie
Figure emblématique de la photographie humaniste, Willy Ronis (1910-2009) définissait cette école française comme « le regard du photographe qui aime l’être humain ». Influencé par la musique et la peinture, il composait ses images avec la précision d’un artiste, capturant le quotidien avec une sensibilité rare et une joie non dissimulée. Il voyait dans la photographie un moyen de sublimer la vie, affirmant : « Parfois, il est possible de chiper le moment sublime et d’en tirer une immense satisfaction. »

Yasuhiro Ishimoto - Des lignes et des corps
From June 19 to November 17, 2024, LE BAL presents a remarkable figure in the history of Japanese photography, yet little-known in France: Yasuhiro Ishimoto (1921-2012). For the first time in Europe, the exhibition, organized in close collaboration with the Ishimoto Yasuhiro Photo Center at the Museum of Art, Kochi, Japan, brings together 169 rare prints, most of them vintage and made by Ishimoto himself. The exhibition focuses on the first decades of his work, between Chicago and Japan. A key figure of the 1950s and 1960s, he will be considered “visually bilingual” through his ability to combine the formal approach of the New Bauhaus with the quintessence of Japanese aesthetics.
